Contingency
Fee | Hourly| Flat Fee
At The Alholm Law Firm, P.C., our fee arrangement depends on the type of work we are asked to perform for our clients. These arrangements fall into one of three categories: a contingency fee basis, an hourly basis, or a flat fee basis. No matter what type of matter you present to us, our fee agreement will always be in writing and you will never incur any charges prior to entering into a written agreement with our firm.
The three types of arrangements we use are explained below in more detail. If you have any questions regarding our fee arrangements, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Contingency Fee Basis
A contingency fee basis applies when our firm takes a percentage of the total recovery you receive. Under a contingency fee agreement, our clients typically have no risk, because our office usually fronts all of the costs on behalf of our clients. Therefore, if your case is unsuccessful, you often owe us nothing. In cases where our clients have a recovery, we typically receive 33.3% of the recovery plus whatever costs we fronted for the matter. A contingency fee basis is used when we are representing our clients in a matter in which our clients are seeking money damages from another party, such as personal injury cases, many subrogation matters, professional liability cases, or employment matters.
Hourly Basis
Most matters that are not handled on a contingency fee basis are handled at an hourly rate. Typically, our rates range from $135-$175 an hour based upon the type of work we are asked to perform. As with all of our fee arrangements, the hourly rate will be determined and placed in writing prior to our office billing our clients for any of our time. Also, unlike many law firms, we generally do not charge for quick telephone calls, brief e-mail inquiries, small amounts of copying or fax transmissions.
Flat Fee Basis
Since some clients prefer a flat fee basis to an hourly basis, we occasionally will handle some matters on a flat fee basis. Flat fee arrangements, like all of our fee agreements, will be discussed and placed in writing prior to our clients being charged for any services.
